People often don’t have sufficient emotional vocabulary to be able to express themselves which can lead to frustration.
The feelings and emotion wheel enables people to identify, better understand and really share their feelings around events that they have experienced or are experiencing, and their roots.
It is particularly good for pinpointing the source of past traumatic experiences as well as checking in with yourself in the moment.
The feelings and emotions wheel also helps immeasurably with clients' as well as counsellors' understanding of their experiences and has long proven to be an incredibly simple yet deeply effective tool within and outside the therapy room.
Clients found it so useful in my practice that they began asking if they could have a smaller version for themselves. I was also asked by fellow counsellors where I got mine.

These wheels are manufactured in three sizes and two finishes to a very high standard from an aluminium composite sheet only 3mm thick, comprising two aluminium cover layers and a polyethylene core. It is lightweight, extremely rigid, durable and strong.
They come in 3 sizes, Small, Medium and Large and in two finishes, Matt and Gloss The Matt finish is very hard wearing and especially effective on the largest size wheel. It cannot be used with the wipe board pen, however. The Gloss wipe board laminate is a gloss finish which allows clients and counsellors to mark which feelings or emotions they are feeling at the time so that they can be talked about before wiping off again. They are extremely easy to hang and there is a choice of two methods to hang the medium and large wheels. The large wheel, which is like a piece of art in it's own right, can be hung easily using the supplied 3M Command Strips which are perfect for a smooth wall and can be removed without removing the paint. Alternatively, the medium and large wheels can be supplied with a hole drilled in the middle to take a screw with a black cap so that the wheel can be rotated. The wheel is printed with a natural orientation but some people like to rotate it. Felt pads will also be supplied to stop the wheel scraping the wall whilst being turned. The small, hand held wheel does not come with fixings but can be put on a wall simply with blu tak or similar sticky pads. If you choose the wipe board option it will be supplied with a wipe board pen. |
